Dr. B S Ajaikumar is the chairman and CEO of HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd. Dr. Ajaikumar founded HealthCare Global Enterprises to realize his vision of making advanced cancer care accessible to all. He has served as the CEO since 2005.
Dr. Ajaikumar’s contribution to the field of cancer care in India as well as his successes as a first generation physician entrepreneur has been widely recognized. He has been awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the CII Regional Emerging Entrepreneurs Award, and is also a recipient of the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award.
Dr. Ajaikumar has been a practicing oncologist in the US and India for over three decades. He completed his residency training in Radiotherapy from the MD Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute of the University of Texas, and his residency training in Oncology from the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville. He received his MBBS from the St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore.
Vijay Chandru, Ph.D
Dr. Vijay Chandru co-founded Strand in 2000 with Dr. Ramesh Hariharan as a spin-off from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He is an academic entrepreneur recognized as a ‘Technology Pioneer’ by the World Economic Forum in 2006. His academic career has spanned over two decades at Purdue University and IISc.
Dr. Chandru is the recipient of several awards and honors: Fellow of Indian Academy of Sciences (1996), MCIT Dewang Mehta Award for Innovation in IT (2001), UGC Hari Om Trust award for “Science and Society” (2003), the President’s Medal of INFORMS in 2006, distinguished Alumni award by the MIT India Program in 2007, and was recognized as the Biospectrum Biotech Entrepreneur of 2007.
Dr. Chandru was the elected Honorary President (2009-2012) of the Association of Biotech Led Enterprises (ABLE), the apex trade body that represents the Indian biotech industry. Dr. Chandru also serves as an advisor to the Karnataka State Council on Science & Technology and on the Atal Innovation Mission at the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI AAYOG) in New Delhi. He holds a Ph.D from MIT.
Mr. Gangadhara Ganapati is a director of HealthCare Global Enterprises Ltd. since 2005. He founded Triesta Sciences in 2002.
Mr. Ganapati has over 25 years of business leadership experience in the healthcare and lifesciences industry. He has served as the MD of Adamas India Pharmaceuticals and as the VP, Corporate Development of Adamas Pharmaceuticals, Inc. From 1996 to 2002, he was part of the mergers and acquisitions department of Credit Suisse First Boston. He started his career with the Tata Administrative Services and worked at Tata Industries Limited from 1990 to 1994.
He received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, PGDM from IIM, Ahmedabad and his B. Tech from IIT, Madras.
Ramesh Hariharan, Ph.D
Dr. Ramesh Hariharan is the co-founder and CEO at Strand, and adjunct professor at the Computer Science department of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. At Strand, over the last 15 years, Dr. Ramesh has lead teams building analytical tools for high-throughput molecular profiling; these tools are widely used and have been cited in several thousand publications. More recently, Dr. Ramesh and the team at Strand have been working on technology to make DNA sequencing for genetic disease diagnosis affordable in India. Dr. Ramesh’s research contributions in computer science include fast algorithms for several algorithmic problems. Dr. Ramesh is a recipient of the TR100 Award of Young Innovators by MIT’s Technology Review Magazine and in 2003 received the Global Indus Technovator Award from MIT, instituted to recognize the Top 20 Indian Technology Innovators worldwide.
Dr. Ramesh received his B. Tech from the IIT, Delhi, his Ph. D from the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York University, and subsequently did a postdoc at the Max-Planck Institut fur Informatik in Saarbrucken, Germany.
Dr. Ramesh was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences. IIT, Delhi recognized him as the Distinguished Alumnus for the year 2015.
Sunil is a Director and Chief Operating Officer with Quadria Capital, an Asian healthcare focused private equity fund with managed assets of over US$ 1.5 billion.
Sunil has an extensive healthcare investment and transaction experience across the Asia-Pacific market and has been involved in some of the landmark deals in the healthcare space.
In his experience spanning 16+ years, Sunil has led and executed deals worth over US$ 7 billion across M&A and Capital Raise.
Sunil serves on the board and committees of various healthcare companies and few prestigious institutions.
Prior to Quadria Capital, Sunil has worked with Religare Capital Markets and PNB Gilts at various senior positions.
He has a Masters Degree in International Business from Delhi School of Economics.
Dr Amit Varma
Dr. Amit Varma is the co-founder and Managing Partner of Quadria Capital, an Asian healthcare focused private equity fund with managed assets of over US$ 1.5 billion.
Dr. Varma is sponsor of Healthquad, a healthcare focused venture capital firm investing in technology backed companies in India.
He has over 25 years of private equity, strategic & operational leadership and board level experience in healthcare organizations across USA, Asia and Australia.
Dr. Varma serves on the board and committees of various healthcare companies and few prestigious institutions and has previously worked with leading healthcare groups in India: Fortis Healthcare, Narayan Hrudayalaya and Manipal Heart Foundation.
He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and the Cleveland Clinic.
He has a MD medicine degree from University of Delhi and has done super-specialty medicine training from the University of New York and University of Pittsburgh, USA.
