What is the HBOC Comprehensive Panel?

This broad genetic panel screens for a wide range of genes linked to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. It includes high-risk genes like BRCA1, BRCA2, and TP53, as well as moderate-risk genes such as ATM, CHEK2, and PALB2 to help refine risk assessment and treatment planning.

Genes Covered/No of Genes: 20 Genes

Indications for Testing

  • Patients with a personal or family history of multiple cancer types.
  • Individuals with early-onset or bilateral breast cancer.
  • Individuals with two primary cancers, individuals with recurrent cancers
  • Those considering risk-reducing mastectomy or oophorectomy.

Inheritance Pattern

Primarily autosomal dominant, though some genes follow autosomal recessive patterns.

Why is This Test Important?

Testing enables risk assessment and personalized treatment strategies, including the use of targeted therapies like PARP inhibitors, surgical managements, and personalised surveillance plans.
