The HBOC Basic Panel screens for mutations in the most common genes associated with Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) syndrome, including BRCA1, BRCA2, and other high-risk genes.

Genes Covered/No of Genes: BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2, TP53

Indications for Testing

  • Patients with early-onset breast, ovarian, bilateral breast cancer, Prostate cancer, or peritoneal cancers.
  • Those with a family history of HBOC-related cancers, sarcomas, prostate cancers etc.
  • Individuals of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, who have a higher prevalence of BRCA mutations.

Inheritance Pattern

Autosomal dominant—P/LP mutations in these genes confer a high/increased risk of hereditary cancers.

Testing enables risk assessment and personalized treatment strategies, including the use of targeted therapies like PARP inhibitors, surgical managements, and personalised surveillance plans.
