Ovarian cancer, often dubbed as the “silent killer,” poses a significant threat to women’s health globally. In India alone, the incidence of ovarian cancer stands at a staggering 47,333 cases per year, according to GLOBOCAN 2022. Despite its prevalence, ovarian cancer is notorious for its elusive nature, with early-stage cases often exhibiting no symptoms, leading to high mortality rates.

Understanding the risk, recognizing the symptoms and factors associated with ovarian cancer is crucial for early detection and prevention.

Ovarian cancer remains a formidable adversary in women’s health, creating a need for increased awareness, proactive screening, and preventive measures. Women with known genetic predisposition (i.e., carry mutated BRCA1/2 genes) can prevent ovarian cancer by adopting risk reducing recommendations in consultation with their clinician. By understanding the risk factors, recognizing the symptoms, and adopting proactive strategies, women can empower themselves in the fight against this formidable disease.
